Baja Mining(BAJ), is a Canadian mine development company with a 70% interest in the Boleo copper-cobalt-zinc-manganese project located near Santa Rosalia, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

Hired as Staff Accountant by Controller to help the Accounting Teams in Canada and Mexico with various projects.

Job Duties

• Communicate with Procurement team and internal customers to assist in the identification and resolution of issues associated with the procurement cycle such as quotes, billing, contracts and other documentation discrepancies
• Work with Procurement team members to research A/P discrepancies and variances
• Prepare and coordinate requests to generate manual invoices and track them to payment reconciliation
• Perform multiple financial cost analyses functions, including cost allocation, setting up cost control systems, collecting data, controlling costs and preparing reports that maintain the company’s cost accounting system.
• Submit proper documents for wire transfer payments and follow through to assure payment is issued in a timely manner.
• Provide analytical support to upper management with month end close and journal entries.
• Work with cross-functional teams to evaluate current processes and tools, propose and drive change in order to improve quality of work.
